Good Humanitarian Donorship
ActivitiesA number of activities are currently underway to develop and promote the Good Humanitarian Donorship (GHD) initiative. Development Assistance Committee (DAC) Peer ReviewsThe GHD initiative has helped to establish humanitarian aid as a distinct type of development assistance. It is now evaluated separately within the DAC Peer Review process. An Assessment Framework, derived from the GHD principles, is used. Work is also underway on reaching a clear definition of humanitarian aid. Strengthening Donor Coordination at Field LevelThe principles of GHD are being put to the test in both Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The lessons learned from these pilots will help develop best practice for donors. GHD and Disaster Risk ReductionDonors are working together to share good practice in the area of disaster risk reduction. Humanitarian FinancingA number of new ways to fund humanitarian assistance are being developed, and existing ones refined. These mechanisms aim to ensure that funding is adequate, predictable and flexible. This will lead to faster, more efficient and equitable humanitarian assistance. Harmonisation of ReportingDonors and agencies are working to establish efficient, streamlined reporting and improved management of their relationships with key multilateral partners. This will help to ensure that agencies receive coherent donors messages, and that hey have more time to focus on delivery. Promotion of GHDVarious projects are underway to promote wider uptake of the GHD principles and best practice. Monitoring Progress against CommitmentsVarious reports on the work undertaken by the GHD initiative.
